The PGS Annual Luncheon will be held in the Linden Room at the Days Inn. The luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Clio Andris, Assistant Professor of Geography at Penn State (http://www.geog.psu.edu/people/andris-clio-0). Her research integrates urban planning, spatial analysis, and GIS to understand how the world connects through systems of contacts (social networks and flows).

The PGS Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony on Friday night will be held at Nittany Lion Inn, which is a relatively modest walking distance (~ 1 mile) from the Days Inn. For those who wish to drive, free parking is available in deck next to NLI (with ticket validation at front desk). (http://www.nittanylioninn.psu.edu/)

This year’s banquet speaker is the 2014 PGS Distinguished Geographer award winner Dr. Petra Tschakert, Associate Professor of Geography and Earth-Environmental Systems at Penn State (http://www.geog.psu.edu/people/tschakert-petra). Dr. Tschakert is Coordinating Lead Author of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), working on Chapter 13 (“Livelihoods and Poverty”) of the Working Group II Report on Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability, and is part of the Core Writing Team of the AR5 Synthesis Report.
